To Be Unshaken: Set the Lord Before You- Blog

In the process of releasing the first project Songs from His Presence, I was very nervous and anxious about releasing that project. I know the Lord had put it in my heart that it was time to no longer hold on to those songs, but I'm only a music producer not a singer and my only desire was to expose the music through other artists. So I was afriad that no one would understand it or know the awesome singers that would be singing on the project as upcoming artists themselves or how to make it happen. I prayed and the Lord gave me boldiness to move forward, and I'm forever thankful to the artists featured on this and the last project for entrusting in me and coming along on this journey. That week before the first project came out myself and co-writer LaVarn Gordon wrote the song called Unshaken.

One morning as I was in the word of God I found myself reading Psalms 16. The highlighted verse for me was Psalms 16:8 which reads, "I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken." (NIV). As I began to study this and seeing the psalmist David in the midst of the trouble he was facing he kept his focus on God.

In the New Testament you see that this is also a Messianic psalms which refers to our greatest example Jesus Christ. Hebrews 12:2 reads, "looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

I realized through the word of God that I must make the conscious decision to set the Lord before me. Not to place my attention on the big task at hand, or my lack of resources, or fear of the unknown. But, have a resolve like the psalmist in Psalms 62:2 that says, "My soul, wait silently for God alone,For my expectation is from Him." I see this example so clear with the account of Peter in Matthew 14:28-32 and of how as long as he set his eyes on Jesus he was doing the impossible which was walking on water and the moment his eyes were focused on the winds of trouble he began to sink.

Know that to be unshaken we must set and dedicate our Heart & Soul to the Lord.
